What Equipment Do I Need to Use EveryDay VoIP?

Getting started with EveryDay VoIP is simple. Your service works over an internet connection, giving you the flexibility to use either an approved VoIP desk phone or the EveryDay VoIP mobile app.

In many cases, you can be up and running in just a few minutes.

Option 1 – Use an Approved EveryDay VoIP Desk Phone (Recommended)

For the best experience, we recommend using an approved EveryDay VoIP phone supplied by us or one of our authorised partners.

All approved devices are pre-configured before dispatch, so there's no complicated setup required.

Simply:

  • Connect the phone to your broadband router using the supplied Ethernet cable.
  • Connect the power supply (or use Power over Ethernet where supported).
  • Wait a few minutes while the phone automatically connects to the EveryDay VoIP network.

Once connected, your phone is ready to make and receive calls.

Option 2 – Use the EveryDay VoIP Mobile App

You can also use the EveryDay VoIP mobile app to make and receive calls from your smartphone or tablet.

The app works over:

  • Wi-Fi
  • Mobile data (4G or 5G)

This allows you to use your EveryDay VoIP number whether you're at home, at work or travelling.

The mobile app is ideal if:

  • You're away from your desk.
  • You prefer using your mobile device.
  • Your broadband connection is temporarily unavailable but your mobile device still has an internet connection.

With the app installed, your EveryDay VoIP number stays with you wherever you have an internet connection.

Internet Connection Requirements

To use EveryDay VoIP, you'll need an active internet connection.

This can be provided by:

  • Fibre broadband
  • Standard broadband
  • Wi-Fi
  • Mobile data (4G or 5G)

A faster and more stable connection will generally provide the best call quality.

Can I Use My Own VoIP Phone?

Yes.

If you already own a compatible VoIP phone, you may be able to use it with EveryDay VoIP.

Please note that devices purchased from other providers may require reconfiguration before they can be used and may not support all available features available on the EveryDay VoIP platform.

Can I Use a Cordless Phone?

Yes.

Many customers choose cordless DECT VoIP phones, allowing them to move freely around their home while continuing to enjoy the benefits of EveryDay VoIP.

Can I Plug My Old Telephone Into My Router?

No.

Traditional analogue telephones cannot usually be connected directly to your broadband router.

To use EveryDay VoIP, you'll need either:

  • An approved EveryDay VoIP desk phone.
  • A compatible VoIP phone.
  • The EveryDay VoIP mobile app.

Do I Need an Engineer?

No.

EveryDay VoIP is designed for self-installation. Approved desk phones arrive pre-configured, while the mobile app can be downloaded and activated using your EveryDay VoIP account.

Will My Service Work During a Power Cut?

If you're using a VoIP desk phone, both your broadband equipment and phone require power. During a power outage, your desk phone will not operate unless you have suitable backup power in place.

However, if you have the EveryDay VoIP mobile app installed and your smartphone has battery power together with a mobile data or Wi-Fi connection, you can continue making and receiving calls using your EveryDay VoIP number.

For this reason, we recommend installing the EveryDay VoIP mobile app on your smartphone, providing you with an additional way to stay connected wherever you have an internet connection.
